Philadelphia Eagles: Mack Hollins knows the fans aren’t disappointed
Philadelphia Eagles second-year wide receiver Mack Hollins acknowledges the president’s comments about the feelings of Eagles fans.
This entire week has been crazy at the Nova Care Complex. The Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles were set to visit Washington D.C. on Tuesday to meet President Donald Trump. After the White House found out that majority of the Eagles 2017 roster would not attend, he pulled the plug on the Eagles Super Bowl victory celebrations. Instead, he held a different event for those in attendance.

The Eagles weren’t expected to have anywhere close to their full roster from last season heading to the White House. In fact, the original rumor was that somewhere around under ten players were planning on going. Not too long after that bit of news came out, we found out that Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles was the only Eagles player that actually confirmed that he would go.
President Trump was far from pleased, to say the least. He took to Twitter to express his displeasure with the Super Bowl champions decision to skip out on the visit. Trump’s comments towards the Eagles weren’t exactly what the city of Philadelphia focused on, though. Eagles fans from all over lashed out at a comment by White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
The White House’s statement:
"“If this wasn’t a political stunt by the Eagles franchise, then they wouldn’t have planned to attend the event and then back out at the last minute.“ “The Eagles are the ones who decided to change at the eleventh hour, and the president thinks the fans deserves better.”“In other words, the vast majority of the Eagles team decided to abandon their fans,”"
Philly.com reported that Sanders accused the Eagles of using this opportunity as a publicity stunt. But then she blamed the team for letting down Eagles fans in the process. The social media world erupted with confusion on Tuesday. While the White House accused the Eagles of letting their fans down for their decision, everybody within the Eagles fan base knows that just isn’t true.
Second-year wide receiver Mack Hollins reassured the media on Wednesday that he knows the fans got the teams back. While his teammate Nelson Agholor was speaking to reporters, Hollins interrupted. One of the reporters asked about the president’s statement on the fans being let down. Before Agholor could answer, Hollins chimed in with his opinion on the situation.

“Nah man we won a ring, we didn’t let them down,” Hollins said out loud to reporters as he was just walking by in the locker room. He couldn’t be more correct. Eagles fans had their fun celebrating the Super Bowl victory already back in February.
Regardless of everybody’s political opinion within the fan base, there’s no way an Eagles fan could possibly be disappointed with this team. After overcoming many obstacles to win the first Super Bowl in franchise history, Eagles fans will forever appreciate what this team has done in 2017-2018.
