An Eagles ‘Flashback Friday’: Take a look at a younger Darren Sproles
Philadelphia Eagles running back Darren Sproles just turned 35 years old, but everyone’s guess is he still has a little left in the tank.
The hope of quite a few Philadelphia Eagles fans was Darren Sproles wouldn’t end his career with a season-ending injury. After everything he’s given to the game, it just seems as though he deserved to go out on his own terms. It was also difficult to believe that he’d allow our last vision of him to be the man we saw go down in a heap after breaking his arm and tearing his ACL on September 25th versus the New York Giants.
We’ll all get to see what may be Sproles’ swan song in 2018 thanks to a one-year deal he signed with Philly on April 28th. Here’s a little something PhiladelphiaEagles.com pieced together about a year ago.

On June 20th, Sproles turned 35. That’s supposed to be ancient for a running back. Fortunately for him and his legs, Philly’s running back situation is in a much better spot than it was in a season ago.
We’ve gone from discussing the prospect of whether or not too much might be asked of him to wondering how the Eagles’ coaching staff is going to create opportunities for so many offensive weapons.
In addition to Sproles, the Eagles have Josh Adams, Matt Jones and Corey Clement. Then, there’s Jay Ajayi, Wendell Smallwood and last season’s 132nd-overall selection Donnel Pumphrey. We haven’t even brought up the wide receiver talent.
Philly’s oldest running back is also one of their most talented, but here’s what’s awesome. Even though all of these guys won’t be on the final 53-man roster, we do know one thing.

If Sproles is in, he won’t be called on as much as he was in years past. That could lead to more explosive plays and ‘Number 43’ being fresh if another postseason push is in the works.
