Former Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant shows up on ‘American Ninja Warrior’
Throwback Thursday came a little early for Philadelphia Eagles fans as Jason Avant made an appearance on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior.
Typically, it can be seen as a little unprofessional to write these types of stories in first person, but I’ll have to break that rule here for a paragraph or so. Once upon a time, I was certain that I could breeze through one of those obstacle courses on American Gladiator or American Ninja Warrior. Now, the morning after watching former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant brave the course, I’m certain that I was mistaken.
Okay, now, let’s go back to third-person writing.
A former Eagle makes the fans cheer one more time.
Avant appeared on NBC’s highly-popular television show as ‘American Ninja Warrior’ was in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’ for qualifying rounds. Current Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills and one of his former teammates, Quintin Mikell, were both in attendance to cheer him on.
Avant got off to a slow start. As expected, he’d push himself forward. Falling from the final wingnut would eventually be where the course would end for him. Still, it was still a great showing by a guy that has kept himself in great shape.
He still looks like he could make a couple of NFL rosters.

The loyalty of the Philadelphia Eagles’ fan base is undeniable. Just look at the reaction this guy got. Avant hasn’t suited up for the Eagles since 2013, and the fans still love him.
For the uninitiated, the former Eagles receiver played 116 of his 148 career games in Philly before calling it a career after a brief stint with two other teams.
The Carolina Panthers signed him for 2014. He was released on November 18th of that year and rejoined his former head coach, Andy Reid, with the Kansas City Chiefs three days later. He’d play for the Chiefs for the remainder of 2014 and, again, in the 2015 season.
In 2017, he opened ‘Launch’ a trampoline park in Deptford, New Jersey.
