Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick shined in a recent flag football game.

Say what you will about the ‘Michael Vick Experience’ with the Philadelphia Eagles. It did lead to some pretty big moments. What was supposed to be the beginning of the Kevin Kolb era in Philly took a hit when Philly’s heir apparent went down in game number one with a concussion versus the Green Bay Packers.

Vick took over, and he’d remain the Eagles starter until an injury of his own led to the beginning of the first Nick Foles stint in Philadelphia.

Andy Reid‘s replacement, Chip Kelly, would return Vick to the starting role after winning the job over Foles and newly-drafted Matt Barkley, but Vick would get hurt again, ultimately ending his era in Philadelphia.

When his 54-game run in Philly was over, Vick had started 42 of those games. He had thrown for 9,984 yards and 57 touchdowns. He had also racked up 298 carries, gaining 1,997 yards in the process. That led to us adding 15 rushing touchdowns with ‘The Birds’ to his resume as well.

Recently, he took the field to lead his squad, Michael Vick’s Roadrunners, in a battle versus former NFL receiver Chad Johnson‘s Team Ocho in Game 1 of the American Flag Football League’s Pro bracket.

Let’s take one more look at ‘The Michael Vick Experience’ in Philly. We’ll start with a Monday night masterpiece.

More from Inside the Iggles

You can’t explain the Eagles’ story without mentioning Vick. What fan of ‘The Birds’ will ever forget the masterpiece ‘Number 7’ put together against the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football? That night, he put together a game for the ages.

All he did was throw for 333 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 80 yards and another two touchdowns.

We couldn’t leave ‘Big Blue’ out.

If that doesn’t do it for you, think back to a game that was played on December 19th of 2010. In that one, Philly erased a 24-7 deficit in the fourth quarter versus the New York Giants by scoring 28 points in the final frame.

Vick went 21 of 35 with his arm, throwing for 242 yards and three touchdowns. On the ground, he racked up 130 yards and another touchdown on ten carries. All of that led to one of the most climactic finishes in Eagles history, a walk-off punt return by DeSean Jackson as time expired.

Take a look at what’s been dubbed ‘The Miracle at the New Meadowlands’:

There were ups and downs in Vick’s career with the Eagles. At times, he was a turnover machine. He always seemed to be hurt. He never won a playoff game, but we’ll say it again.

Next: The backfield battle that nobody’s talking about

You can’t tell the Eagles’ story without him. Seeing him evade pressure and sling the rock with his familiar flick of the wrist makes us think of some of those cool moments again, even if it is flag football.
