The Philadelphia Eagles made their appeal, and EA Sports issued a response. Nick Foles gets a boost in one of his individual ratings.

The kudos just keep on coming for Nick Foles. You may not believe this, but players and teams pay more attention to Madden rankings than you might believe. The Philadelphia Eagles are no exception. Think back to NFL Films capturing Kenjon Barner teasing Jay Ajayi about Madden 19 dropping his speed rating after being tackled from behind following a long run versus the Dallas Cowboys.

Even recently, the Eagles issued an appeal to EA Sports following what we can call ‘catch gate’ (or not). A preliminary release of Madden 19’s player rankings revealed New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was given a higher catch rating than Foles was given.

Take a look at this response:

Wait. Weren’t both quarterbacks on the receiving ends of passes in football’s biggest game? Didn’t Brady drop his? Wasn’t Foles on the receiving end of one of the greatest plays in the history of the Super Bowl?

Cue the ‘Philly Special’.

Throw the challenge flag.

The appeal is one of the things that makes our country so great. We can challenge everything from a judge’s legal ruling to the spot of the football. As expected, the Eagles and their fans reached in their collective pockets for a challenge flag on this catch rating. A request for review was issued via social media.

Take a look:

The officials took a break and went into the replay booth:

After a meeting of the minds, the replay officials emerged from the tent with their answer. The dust settled. The initial ruling was reversed.

We, at ITI, recognize that this may not fall in the category of ‘important’ to many of you. Then there’s the other side. This is for those who call themselves ‘gamers’, for some of the greatest athletes in the world and for the Philadelphia Eagles themselves.

It’s a competitive thing. You might not understand, but for everyone of the rest of us, this makes us smile. Trust us on this one.
