Any day now the Philadelphia Eagles could bring back veteran safety, Corey Graham.

Philadelphia Eagles training camp is so close, yet so far away. By the end of this week, the Super Bowl champions will be geared up and ready to go for their summer portion of the offseason. Unfortunately for some young roster hopefuls, they won’t even get a chance to suit up for training camp. It was announced on Tuesday that the Eagles released wide receiver Marquess Wilson and waived cornerback Randall Goforth.

With their sudden moves, the Eagles could now look to add some more bodies heading into camp. Sure, they could just add some nobodies to fill a roster spot for cheap, but with the way the depth chart is looking, they could use some help.

It comes as no surprise that the Eagles are one of the more all-around complete teams in the NFL. But just because they are stacked in certain positions doesn’t mean that they couldn’t use some help with quality depth. After all, they are going for the repeat, right?

At this point, the offensive side of the ball looks stellar. Even with some critical injuries, the offense may be the strength of the team, for now. While the defense is also quite attractive on paper, there are some obvious weak spots.

The number one position that comes to mind when thinking in terms of needing help, it is the safety position. Knowing that there is a guy in the free agency market who is quite familiar with this team, it only makes sense that the Eagles bring him back.

Is it time for Corey Graham to come back?

Last year, veteran safety Corey Graham had a stellar season with the Eagles. Although he was brought on to the roster rather late (spotting a trend?) his veteran experience didn’t really hold him back. As Graham wasn’t expected to beat out Rodney McLeod or Malcolm Jenkins for a starting position, he served the Eagles top-tier defense well as he was a regular in the rotation.

After the 2017 regular season wrapped up, Graham accounted for over 35-percent of the snaps on defense, and close to 40-percent of the snaps on special teams. He finished the season off with  28 total tackles and two interceptions. Now, his numbers don’t exactly jump out on paper, but in comparison to the guys who are currently behind the Jenkins and McLeod, Graham is a significant upgrade, to say the least.

Plus, we all know the more, the merrier for Jim Schwartz. Sure, young guys like Tre Sullivan and Jeremy Reaves can make impacts, but why move forward with question marks when you know there is a guy on the market who can get the job done when called upon?

We know the Eagles aren’t loaded with cash, but Graham’s price tag doesn’t seem to be getting any higher as well. Doug Pederson stated back in May that he would like for Graham to return. So now it’s time for Howie Roseman to get on the phone and make it happen!
