Keep your head up everybody. The Philadelphia Eagles have been 2-2 before, and normally it’s worked out pretty well.

It’s hard to get a pulse on what the Philadelphia Eagles fan base is feeling right now. Some have prescribed themselves to the ‘gloom and doom’ mind state. Others are more optimistic. Others still haven’t even gotten that far. They’re just debating play calling and whether or not Jalen Mills should still be starting at cornerback.

Irregardless, one fact remains. One month of the season is gone, and the Eagles are a .500 football team. Believe it or not, the outcome of Sunday’s game versus the Minnesota Vikings is of the utmost importance. Fear not Eagles fans. This isn’t the first time Philly began a season 2-2. Actually, the last six times things turned out better than most expected

Let’s flip through a few pages of the history books.

This should ease some of the pain (maybe).

More from Inside the Iggles

We begin in 1989. The Eagles started 2-2 in that season as well. What happened? They finished with an 11-5 mark and made the playoffs. Fast forward to 2000. The Eagles again started the season with a 2-2 record, and again, they rattled off victories in nine of their next 12 games to, again, finish the season 11-5 and walk into the playoffs.

That brings us to 2001. Not only did Philly qualify for the playoffs. They marched their way into the NFC Championship Game, just as they did in 2003. In 2008, they ended the regular season with a 9-6-1 record (it seems sad that you can have a tie in a pro football game).

After nine wins, and said tie, the Eagles, again, made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

That brings us to 2010. This was the last time that Philly started the regular season with a 2-2 record (prior to this season of course).

You guessed it. ‘The Birds’ marched their way into the playoffs again. This time, they did so with a mark of 10-6.

What are we saying? Yes, we know that doesn’t help some of you much because none of those seasons ended with a Super Bowl victory. To be honest, most of those seasons ended painfully.

Still, making the playoffs is better than not doing so. Ladies and gentlemen, in the words of Aaron Rodgers, everyone just needs to R-E-L-A-X. There’s a ton of football left to be played. Nothing’s been settled at all.

Next. Why Is Jalen Mills catching so much heat this season?. dark

It may seem dark now, but this can get fixed. Just ask Eagles head coach Doug Pederson. He isn’t worried, and he knows more about football than all of us.

We’ll all just have to wait and be patient. Next up is a Vikings team that seems to be having problems themselves. Thankfully, this one is in the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field.
