During Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson’s press conference on Wednesday, we finally got some perspective on here Timmy Jernigan is, We even got a little insight on Haloti Ngata as a special added bonus.

Finally, we have some updates (albeit very vague ones) on Timmy Jernigan and Haloti Ngata. They came courtesy of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson‘s press conference on Wednesday.

At times this week, it’s seemed as though playing Week 6’s game on a Thursday night stretched the work week out at the Novacare Complex. It’s kind of felt like a mini-bye. That leads to the Philly media seeking out some of the other coaches on the Philadelphia Eagles’ staff for quotes and sound bytes.

Coach Pederson hasn’t been to the podium since Friday morning of last week, but on the Wednesday prior to his team’s Week 7 game versus the Carolina Panthers, he was his usual self and showed no signs of ‘mic rust’.

A question about the departure of Destiny Vaeao and the subsequent hole left at defensive tackle came early.

Here’s what Coach Pederson had to say:

"I would say that Ngata is getting close. He’s day-to-day still… We’ll see where he’s at this week obviously.. Tim just keeps progressing.. We’re hopeful and optimistic, but at the same time, we want to make sure he’s healthy and his whole demeanor, for us to put him back on the field, is (centered around) his safety.."

Let’s get some of you caught up.

That’s all good news, as you all may know by now. Destiny Vaeao, who’s actually been a part of Philly’s starting lineup this season on more than one occasion, was given his walking papers so that the Eagles could make room for cornerback Dexter McDougle.

After signing a one-year deal on March 15th and at 34 years of age, ‘Father Time’ seems to have caught up with Ngata. Philly never needed him to be what he was in his prime. They just needed consistent snaps whenever he was in the lineup.

So far this season, he’s battled some nagging injuries, but the 2018 campaign is still young. We haven’t seen Jernigan since the Super Bowl. He had back surgery on May 3rd of 2018 and was placed on the non-football injury list to start the 2018 season.

By the looks of things, both should be back soon and able to contribute for the remainder of the season. That’s very good news.
