The Philadelphia Eagles special duo of Jake Elliott and Rick Lovato have signed one-year deals with the team through 2019.

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially made some big moves for the 2019 NFL season. They have decided to ink their kicker Jake Elliott, and long-snapper Rick Lovato to one-year deals through the 2019 season. This may not be the big re-signing that everybody is waiting for, but it’s definitely an effective one, especially for Eagles kicker, Jake Elliott.

Just a season ago, the Eagles brought in Elliott off of the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad to fill in for the injured Caleb Sturgis. Although Elliott had a shaky preseason with the Bengals during his rookie year, his young career was revived with the Eagles when he hit the game-winning 61-yard field goal against the New York Giants during his second game with the Eagles.

Ever since that kick, Elliott has been reliable for the most part. Sure, he misses a chip shot extra point here and there, but when the Eagles truly need Elliott to knock one in, he steps up to the plate and gets the job done.

As for the signing of Lovato, well, that was once again a no-brainer. The Eagles needed a reliable replacement after they got rid of the beloved Jon Dorenbos, and Lovato did an excellent job of making it feel like the Magic Man never left. Now, the special duo will be back with the Birds, and Howie Roseman gives the team one less small thing to think about.

On to the big stuff, Howie. Who’s up next? Could it be defensive end Brandon Graham? How about wide receiver Golden Tate? Or maybe the Eagles are waiting until they have the opportunity to make a big splash in Free Agency. Either way, we’re sure this offseason will get interesting in due time. Make some deals, Howie.
