Devin Funchess

Age: 24

Last Team: Carolina Panthers

Typically, I’d say beware of former Carolina Panthers wideouts because of the Kelvin Benjamin effect. But I wouldn’t want to avoid them because of the history of one player completely. While Benjamin is available, it would be great if the Eagles steer entirely clear of that situation. However, they could consider a guy like Devin Funchess.

Similar to Moncrief, Funchess’ age and experience is what makes him an intriguing prospect. 24-years-old, with four seasons under his belt. Although the former second-round pick hasn’t quite lived up to his expectations in Carolina, a fresh start is always necessary. In 2018, Funchess started in only 12 games and racked up 44 catches for 549 yards and four touchdowns.

The biggest issue for Funchess during his stint with Carolina was the pressure for him to become the number one receiver, considering where he was drafted. Coming to a team like the Eagles, who already have two solid receivers though could take the pressure off of him and allow him to succeed. It wouldn’t be such a bad idea for the Eagles to offer up a multi-year deal to a 24-year-old experienced wideout with upside.
