Round 1, Pick 25:

Zach Allen, DE, Boston College Eagles

The NFL is, was, and always will be about winning in the trenches. Philly understands that, and regardless of what you’re being told, this draft isn’t as loaded with pass rushers as most NFL teams would like it to be.

With Michael Bennett gone, and with Brandon Graham and Chris Long aging, though gracefully, the first round would be as good a time as any to take a defensive end.

Rashan Gary and Montez Sweat won’t be available at 25. Brian Burns is small, and Jachai Polite fell apart at the NFL Combine. That leaves Clelin Ferrell and Zach Allen as the safest picks that are available when Philly hears their names called at 25.

Allen plays well against the run, and he makes life miserable for signal callers. Enough said.
