Round 2, Pick 53

Josh Jacobs, RB, Alabama

So this pick was a bit shocking. Josh Jacobs has been projected to go as high as the top 20s in the first round for tons of mock drafts. In this one though, he falls well beyond where he’s popularly projected to go. There’s a lot of backfield talent in this draft, but none of them are sure things. Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen some substantial running back talent, with guys who were getting picked within the top ten. This year, there is none of that.

If Jacobs does go in the first round, it would be close to the Eagles’ No. 25 pick. However, seeing him fall to the second round is definitely not out of the question. Will he fall to 53? Well, that’s a bit of a stretch. But if Jacobs does keep on falling in the second round, we shouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles actually make a move up for him.

We know that the backfield was upgraded last week with Jordan Howard, but the Eagles are undoubtedly going to add more talent in the backfield. With Jacobs getting meetings with Duce Staley and set to visit Philadelphia next week, the Eagles definitely have an interest there. Hopefully, if he is their guy, they actually land him this time around. Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen the Eagles try to land multiple running backs, but they failed to trade up and make it happen.
