Yes, it’s just OTAs in May, but Carson Wentz seems to be playing off of the MVP hype pretty well so far.

Don’t you just hate when national analysts make bold predictions about your team so early on? Nobody wants their players or team to be jinxed, and not actually live up to the hype that they have garnered. However, there are times when analysts can actually be right. In this case, the Philadelphia Eagles should feel pretty good about ESPN’s Louis Riddick’s latest offering.

A few days ago, we reported that Riddick took to Twitter to throw out his MVP prediction for the 2019 NFL season. His selection happened to be Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback, Carson Wentz. Naturally, Eagles fans got excited, while the Philly haters laughed it off. But if you remember back to the 2017 season before his December injury, Wentz was easily the best player in football.

Take away the injuries, and Wentz could already be at an elite status heading into year four. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been his path so far. Back to back season-ending injuries have left many with doubt about Wentz. Some believe he will never be healthy — others forget what he’s even capable of doing when healthy. With a full and healthy offseason occurring for the first time since that 2017 season, Wentz seems to be getting back to his old ways according to the insiders.

We get it, it is just OTAs so far, but any progress is promising. As Wentz spent last year’s entire offseason rehabbing, he missed a lot of much needed time practicing with his receivers. Although OTAs, training camp, and the preseason don’t count for anything when September rolls around, it is definitely quite important.

As it takes time for the quarterback and the receivers to develop a chemistry, it can really affect the passing game if quality time is missed in the offseason. Fortunately, that won’t be the case this year for Carson Wentz and so far that time building chemistry seems to be paying off as he has looked good throughout the first few practices so far.
