Here are three reasons a trade isn’t really out of the realm of possibility.

1. Jordan Howard

The Eagles added Jordan Howard from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a sixth-round draft selection in 2020 on March 28th. It doesn’t really sound like a fair exchange for a guy who has the talent that Howard is supposed to possess, does it?

Howard’s rushing yardage total decreased in each one of his first three seasons. Now, there are a ton of reasons for that, but the word ‘inconsistent’ has been used in conjuction with his name, and that was before there were carries to split with Tarik Cohen. The ‘inconsistent’ label wouldn’t matter much if it wasn’t for the fact that he figures to be the top guy on the running backs depth chart.

Howard isn’t signed past 2019. If he produces, history has shown us Philly will do what’s right and sign him to a longer deal. It needs to be said though. Philly has cap space, and once changes are made after this season and a few familiar faces are let go, there will be even more room.

‘The Birds’ may have some coin. The question is do they value the running back position enough to invest the coins Gordon will be looking for into someone who plays the NFL‘s most punishing position. It’s always a gamble and an unpopular decision to do so even if we are speaking of a talent like Gordon.
