Five Eagles make the cut.
Before they even began with their ranking, ESPN explained the criteria for putting this one together.
"We asked a panel of more than 40 ESPN NFL experts to rate players based on how good they will be in the 2019 season in comparison to their peers. Emphasis was entirely on predicting potential greatness for the upcoming season, rather than past performance or positional value. From those ratings, we were able to rank the best of the best."
Here are the five Eagles who made the list.
1. Jason Kelce (ranked 98th), 2018 ESPN Ranking: 98, NFL Network Ranking: 72
Don’t look now, but Jason Kelce is playing himself into a position where you can really start making up some strong arguments for his enshrinement into Canton. He’s the anchor of what should be a very good offensive line in Philly.
He’s enjoying some very good prime years, and if a few more of those follow, that Pro Football Hall of Fame argument will increase in volume.
2. Lane Johnson (ranked 95th), 2018 ESPN Ranking: 54, NFL Network Ranking: Unranked
ITI published a feature story after Lane Johnson was wrongly left off of the NFL Network’s Top 100. It’s good to see that ESPN got this right. There are seven tackles on ESPN’s list. Johnson is the seventh. That may get the attention of a few Eagles fans. He’s outranked by Mitchell Schwartz, Ryan Ramczyk, Andrew Whitworth, Terron Armstead, Tyron Smith, David Bakhtiari.
Again, we can argue about positioning, but this is a nice group of selections.
