Philadelphia Eagles 2019: Awards for NFL season’s 1st quarter
Offensive Rookie of the Month: Miles Sanders
Andre Dillard has done a little double-duty as both an offensive lineman and as the third tight end on running plays. There was a ton of excitement surrounding JJ Arcega-Whiteside, who we’ve all called the second coming of Alshon Jeffery, but he’s hauled in a grand total of two catches for 14 yards in 2019.
To be honest, Arcega-Whiteside almost ended up on a list of underachievers (more on that later). Offensive rookie of the month came down to Miles Sanders and Dillard. The rookie running back comes out on top thanks to what he’s done in both the running game and on special teams.
Offensive MVP: Carson Wentz
Carson Wentz has put his team in a position to win every game they’ve played in, regardless of what’s gone wrong and regardless of how bleak things have looked. In all honesty, this team could be 4-0, and if Nelson Agholor had caught a pass down the sideline in Atlanta and had Arcega-Whiteside hauled in one final attempt from Wentz in Week 3, they would be.
That’s all you can ask of your franchise signal-caller. By definition, that’s what ‘most valuable player’ means.
