5. Defense

Forget how awful the defense for the Eagles looked in the loss to the Dolphins, and instead take a look at the two previous games in which they managed to keep two top playoff contenders with high-powered offenses in check for the most part.

As crazy as it is to believe, Philadelphia found a way to hold both the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks to scoring just 17 points each, showing just how great the defense can be when on top of their game.

Embarrassing doesn’t even begin to describe how the Eagles played in the loss to the Dolphins, but with a Monday meeting against a Giants team expected to make the switch back to Eli Manning, Philadelphia’s defense could be in for a strong outing.

Whether it happens to be a high amount of sacks or simply forcing numerous turnovers, one can only imagine the high amount of excitement the Eagles’ defense is feeling for this meeting at home against the Giants.

Most importantly, if Philadelphia comes through with a strong performance on defense in front of a national audience, this will not only make the unit feel good about bouncing back, but also provide a big confidence boost heading into the final three weeks of regular season action.
