2. Rasul Douglas, defensive back

This one shouldn’t be a surprise, nor should it be too much to ask for. Rasul Douglas was on a lot of radars as being one of those Eagles who could surprise us with a career year. At times, it’s seemed as though he was primed to do so. It wasn’t long ago that we were praising him as being the cornerback on Philly’s roster who had played the best.

That seems like it was last season, but it wasn’t. This is a roster that’s loaded with cover guys who just don’t possess elite NFL speed. You can throw Douglas in that category, but over and over, we’ve praised him for his football IQ and his ability to make plays. He’s just pulled a Harry Houdini as of late.

Who knows where he’s been, but here’s the thing. This dude’s been here and in this scheme long enough. He needs to play his way back onto the field in practice and be a difference-maker in games once he gets there. We’ve always said he could be a serviceable safety. Why not try it?
