Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews lands with the San Francisco 49ers. Here are two immediate reactions following the news of that move.

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jordan Matthews is back with the San Francisco 49ers again. This guy officially needs his own program. If you’re keeping score, that’s now officially his second stint with the Niners after being released from a third stint with the Eagles on November 25th of 2019.

That last tour of duty with the Eagles lasted exactly 14 days, give or take a few hours.

The news broke right around lunchtime for much of the East Coast and has been verified by several sources. One of which is ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Take a look.

Here are two immediate reactions to the move. One, whenever this happens, the immediate reaction by Eagles fans is to ponder the possibility of one of their own leaving and finding more success somewhere else.

This is especially the case when the coaching staff has been the subject of a ton of criticism and one of the major narratives all season has been whether or not the Eagles assistants, Carson Walch, Press Taylor, and Mike Groh, in particular, have been getting the most out of their players.

The second thought is actually a continuation of the first. Another immediate question is does Matthews still have the tools to be successful in the NFL? He’s clearly past his prime and has regressed, but if anyone can get something out of him, it’s Kyle Shanahan in San Fran.

After all, the quarterback whisperer has created quite the offensive showcase in the Bay Area. Not to mention the charge is partially spearheaded by an undrafted running back in Matt Breida.

dark. Next. Vote for your Eagles on the Pro Bowl ballot!

Meanwhile, for anyone who is interested, Mack Hollins played ten offensive snaps for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, was targeted once, and didn’t have a catch. He was just signed by the Dolphins on December 4th after being waived by the Eagles a day earlier.
