2002 would be the Eagles’ final season in Veterans Stadium, and in their final home opener, a .500 Eagles team welcomed a familiar foe. Philly would get off to a slow start, thanks in part to a 100-yard kickoff return by Reggie Swinton, but the ‘Birds’ would catch fire and take control.

Philly’s defense would force four turnovers and rack up four sacks en route to a 41-13 blowout victory.

The final game of Philly’s season doubled as the final game at ‘The Vet’. That would turn out to be one of the saddest days in franchise history, but this sure wasn’t. Nothing says happiness like roughing up the Cowboys in the home opener.

The undefeated Eagles and Cowboys met in Week 5 of the 1992 NFL season, just one week after an early bye for Philly. This one would be featured under the bright lights of Monday Night Football.

Blowout wins are sometimes seen as being boring unless your team is the one with the higher score. Philadelphia’s rivals from Dallas didn’t put up much of a fight in this one. Philly’s top-ranked defense would allow seven points in the opening stanza, but they’d hold the Cowboys scoreless the rest of the way.
