If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, Greg Ward probably won your respect weeks ago, but this budding young star also has the respect of his teammates, including one of the captains, Malcolm Jenkins.

December 20th was Malcolm Jenkins‘ birthday, and Philadelphia Eagles fans everywhere hope that he had a good one. Still, if you know ’27’ like we’ve gotten to know him over these recent years, you’re probably imagining him using his time to provide hope or some benefit for others, both off of the field with his philanthropic efforts and on the field as he continues to mentor young Eagles stars like Greg Ward.

Let’s all hope that he did something nice for himself.

This year, the Eagles named Jenkins as their nomination for the Nationwide Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. His leadership both on and off the field has long been a topic of conversation, but recently, one of the Eagles captains has been using his time to mentor one of the younger ‘Birds’ on the team, the aforementioned Greg Ward.

According to ’27’, Ward is a crafty route runner and competitor’ that Jenkins has been developing quite the bond with. Prior to Philly’s Week 16 game versus the rival Dallas Cowboys, the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo shared an interesting story about the work they’ve been putting in with one another. Take a look at this one.

Part of what made the 2017 Eagles special was the respect and admiration that they have for one another. The word ‘love’ was thrown around often. This season, there’s been everything from stories about infighting to derogatory comments that have been made anonymously and from burner accounts on social media.

Part of what it’s going to take for Philly to return to that competitive ‘We all we got. We all we need’ mentality is for this team to get back to being a bunch of guys who really seemed to like one another. That will ease the stress a tad, and the bonds they form off of the field will lead to stronger bonds on it.
