3 Philadelphia Eagles injury updates that qualify as good news
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson met with the media on Thursday and gave everyone some good news leading up to their season finale versus New York.
Jordan Howard has been day-to-day with a stinger for almost two months. Lane Johnson went down with an injury in Week 14’s final game. DeSean Jackson has been on the minds of Philadelphia Eagles fans as they’ve wondered about whether or not he may actually return sooner rather than later.
Rumor has it that if Philly can win in Week 17 versus the New York Giants and win their Wildcard matchup versus whoever they might face in their home playoff game, Jackson may be back for the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs.
Here are three updates on the injury front, beginning with two statements made by Pederson during his presser on the Thursday leading up to Week 17’s game.
1. Lane Johnson will participate in Thursday’s walkthrough but won’t practice. He’s progressing, but no one’s sure of his status for Sunday.
2. Jordan Howard will meet with team doctors at some point on Thursday. If he’s cleared for contact, coaches will begin working with him on conditioning to ensure he’ll be ready for the season finale. Even if he plays, Miles Sanders will start, and Coach Pederson states that Boston Scott will still have a role.
3. In another update, we all got a nice Christmas present courtesy of the aforementioned DeSean Jackson. ’10’ posted some footage of himself running on his Instagram account. Take a look.

That’s probably going to fuel the questions about whether or not a return in January might actually happen. We’re all a long way from that being a reality, but things are pointing in a positive direction.
As far as Zach Ertz goes, he’ll continue to be monitored in the days leading up to the game, but as of now, there’s no guarantee that he’ll play versus New York.
