Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce makes the Associated Press’ 2019 NFL All-Pro Team.

The Associated Press announced it’s 2019 NFL All-Pro Team, and the Philadelphia Eagles are represented. The anchor of the league’s best offensive line Jason Kelce gets the nod for the third-straight season.

That ought to make fans happy. It also makes one ask why he’s the only Eagle to receive the honor. Here’ are three immediate reactions to the news.

1. For Kelce, the accolades keep coming.

As mentioned, this is Kelce’s third nod in as many seasons. He’s also been named to his third Pro Bowl (2014, 2016, 2019). Just this week, Pro Football Focus named him to their 2019 PFF All-Pro Team and named the Eagles’ offensive line as the best in pro football.

This doesn’t get talked about much, but might we be looking at a Pro Football Hall of Fame career in the making.

2. Is this where we talk about ‘snubs’?

In times like these, you want to go right to the source. Rob Maaddi is a writer for the AP who covers the NFL, Eagles, and Philadelphia Phillies. He’s also the author Birds of Pray: The Story of the Philadelphia Eagles’ Faith, Brotherhood, and Super Bowl Victory. He tweeted a breakdown of how some of the votes landed, particularly as it relates to the ‘Birds’.

"Jason Kelce received 29 votes. right guard Brandon Brooks finished third with nine votes behind Zack Martin (24) and Marshal Yanda (16). Right tackle Lane Johnson also finished third with three votes behind Ryan Ramczyk (30) and Mitchell Schwartz (13). Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and safety Malcolm Jenkins each got one vote."

As you can see, Brandon Brooks continues to be ignored by everyone outside of the Eagles fanbase.

3. Kelce continues to anchor an O-line that hopes to be healthy by Sunday.

Brandon Brooks, despite a season that makes him worthy of the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year Award, won’t be able to complete the 2019-20 campaign on the field with his teammates.

Next. Philly's obstacles, advantages versus each playoff team. dark

The theory is Matt Pryor stands in for him and Halapoulivaati Vaitai takes the snaps that would have gone to Lane Johnson, but if ’65’ is cleared to play, ‘Big V’ may get bumped inside to the right guard spot. We’ll have to see what happens in the next day or so.
