Philadelphia Eagles drop to 0-5 against Russell Wilson
By Dan Parzych
With Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Philadelphia Eagles are now 0-5 against Russell Wilson in the quarterback’s career.
Plenty of frustrating factors came into play for the Philadelphia Eagles during Sunday’s 17-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs, and one that certainly stands out the most is how Russell Wilson remains undefeated against the NFC East champions.
Prior to the Wild Card Round, the Seahawks seemed to have a slight advantage over the fact they were 4-0 against the Eagles with Wilson under center.
And with Seattle advancing to the Divisional Round for a matchup against the Green Bay Packers, Wilson proudly watched that record against Philadelphia increase to 5-0.
When taking into consideration the Seahawks have only missed the playoffs once (2017) during the Wilson era, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to see the Eagles struggle each time since this is common for most teams.
But to be winless against Wilson in five attempts? Well this just takes the frustration to whole new levels since most Philadelphia fans believe the team should have been able to defeat Wilson and Seattle at least once this season, whether it was during the regular season or playoffs.
Since Wilson tends to mostly play on a MVP level each time he steps foot on the field, the Eagles’ defense deserves a ton of credit for the two meetings since the end of November since the Seahawks only scored 17 points each time.
Then again, the fact that Philadelphia couldn’t score more than 17 points each time also shows how much credit Seattle’s defense deserves since this was a clear factor as well.
Still, Eagles fans can’t help but feel a little frustrated over the fact that Sunday was a winnable game against the Seahawks to watch the winless streak when facing Wilson extend to five games.
One of these days, Philadelphia will hopefully watch this undefeated record by Wilson come to an end since Seattle isn’t going away anytime soon from a contender standpoint, but it still would have been great to see happen on Sunday.
The good news for the Eagles is with the Seahawks already confirmed for a 2020 opponent, Philadelphia will have another shot next season to put an end to Wilson’s undefeated record.
Maybe by then, the Eagles will figure out a way to score more than 17 points since this seemed to be the common theme from this past season.
