A former star and a favorite among the Philadelphia Eagles fan base officially made his return as he’s been named special assistant to the general manager.

The deck continues to be shuffled in the Philadelphia Eagles organization, and more and more ‘Birds’ are flying in and out of the nest. On Friday, shortly before dinnertime on the East Coast, Philly pulled the trigger and made one move that we had been talking about but never saw any real concrete news to back up.

We’ve now learned that they’ve hired Connor Barwin to serve as a special assistant to the general manager Howie Roseman.

Take a look.

As you know, Roseman also has the title of vice president, but Barwin’s duties seem to be limited to assisting Roseman in the general manager’s duties.

Right about the midpoint of the 2019 regular season, it became very obvious that this team was going to look very different in 2020. That was a sentiment that was shared on Twitter and every other form of social media often.

Now, when we were all saying this, we were mainly talking about a few players and a coach or two (you can argue among yourselves about who those coaches were), but frustration was a feeling and a vibe that seemed to be floating around the organization on every level of its infrastructure.

There seems to be a plan in place. As of the time of this story being published, there were still major holes to fill on the coaching staff, but it seems as though there’s a plan and brighter days are ahead. Only time will tell if that assumption is an accurate one.
