It appears that we can all take Mike Kafka off the list of potential candidates for the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator position.

Rumors come and go in the current NFL. That’s just a part of the game, but when a team with the history of the reigning NFC East-Champion Philadelphia Eagles have a quarterback like Carson Wentz in the fold and they have a vacancy in their coaching staff at the offensive coordinator position, everyone pays attention.

Everyone’s got their theory about who Philly should hire. Graham Harrell of the USC Trojans was a person of interest, but he decided to stay in Los Angeles. That brings us all to Mike Kafka.

He was also among the names we knew Philly had a serious interest in, but according to the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks coach is staying put as well.

More from Inside the Iggles

Kafka was drafted by the Eagles during 2010’s NFL Draft during the fourth round (122nd overall). He was on the roster for two seasons before a journeyman career saw him land on a total of seven rosters.

His coaching career began at Northwestern, where he served as a graduate assistant in 2016. That led to an opportunity to rejoin his former head coach, Andy Reid with the Chiefs in 2017 as an offensive quality control coach. He’s been the team’s quarterbacks coach since 2018. It appears ‘Big Red’ isn’t quite ready to let him go yet.

Expect the talk to shift to Jim Caldwell now, as he recently made the decision not to return to the Miami Dolphins. Buckle up Eagles fans. Things are getting interesting.
