The narrative of underachieving Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerbacks is one that began long ago. Just look at some of the free agents they brought in.

Philadelphia Eagles fans received some interesting and, by some accounts, unwanted news recently that the team is planning on aggressively pursuing a cornerback when the free agency period opens on March 18th. The Eagles desperately need reinforcements in the secondary this offseason, and despite the fact that this is seen as a deep crop of free agents at the cornerback position, fans can’t help but feel uneasy about going this route to find one.

You needn’t look any further than the last decade to understand the PTSD-like reaction in the Eagles’ fan base and media that simply comes from seeing this team make so many bad decisions about the cornerback position in free agency. Ever since the departure of Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown, this organization has been desperately searching for their next great cornerback tandem but has yet to succeed in that quest.

Many names have come and gone since the days that the Eagles secondary featured Bobby Taylor on one side and Troy Vincent on the other. Unfortunately, unlike the legends of the past, the following list features several players that are remembered for all the wrong reasons.

There were terrible contracts, horrendous performances, and a combination of both. Here are the five worst cornerback signings of the last ten years. Here’s a warning. It isn’t pretty.
