Jordyn Brooks, Texas Tech

When it comes to scouting the linebacker position, the Eagles tend to value athleticism and versatility over everything else. Jordyn Brooks fits that mold to a T.

This Texas Tech Red Raider projects to go anywhere from the second to the fourth round in this year’s draft. If he happens to fall to the third round where the Eagles have two picks, Roseman would be foolish to pass on this guy.

Brooks balled out in his senior campaign at Texas Tech. He recorded an eye-popping 20 tackles for a loss to go along with his 108 total and three sacks. He also demonstrated some solid pass coverage ability, which some scouts have cited as his top strength.

Standing at 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, Brooks lacks the prototypical size for a linebacker playing in the 4-3 scheme. Due to his smaller stature, he does have trouble taking on blocks and making plays on the inside run game. His instincts in the run game are also a bit lacking, but some solid coaching at the next level could help remedy these issues.

Brooks would be a great pick for Jim Schwartz’s defense if he’s available toward the end of the draft’s second day or early on the third.
