So, what’s up with all of these old guys.

Some of the reasons for the Eagles failures recently have been injuries. Some of the reasons for the injuries have been this team is much too old. When the free agency period kicks off on March 18th, the ‘Birds’ will have decisions to make on a club option they have on Malcolm Jenkins and decisions to make about 18 potential free agents.

Unless the franchise loses its bearings altogether, we can most likely assume that it’s the end of the line for guys like Ronald Darby and Nelson Agholor in midnight green.

For guys like Jalen Mills and Jason Peters, things are a little more cloudy. Everyone got excited when they heard Howie say that he sometimes gets too attached to players and that this Eagles team needs to get younger and less expensive, but now it appears that the team isn’t as high on Dillard as we once thought that they were. It doesn’t seem as though Peters’ departure is a sure thing.

Roseman hit on that and why some of these guys may have hung around too long.

"We’ve been preparing for a flipping of our team. We knew that when we started back in 2016 and Coach Pederson came that we were going to have a window, and the last couple of years, we were trying to extend that window. We were trying to find undervalued veteran free agents because that’s what we thought the mergin was at that point in time… We only had ten picks the last two years, and a lot of (that is because we were trying to win a championship… Now, as we build, we look at it as a new period of time, where in 2020 (and) 2021, we may have a lot of new players on our team but we also have this core… We’re not in a rebuilding mode. We’re in a retooling… We don’t want to be in a period a year or two from now where we’re tearing it all down."

Well, when you put it that way, things make a little more sense, but the long and the short of it is this. That didn’t work. It’s back to the drawing board at the Novacare Complex. Anyone wanting to see the entire interview can do so by checking it out here. This one’s courtesy of NBC Sports’ official YouTube channel.

It looks like they’re having fun in Philly! Don’t blink. Free agency and the draft will be here before you know it. It’s going to be a great couple of months.
