NFL Network mainstay Colleen Wolfe made the Philadelphia Eagles pick on the NFL Network’s “Mock Draft Live” and she went with a surprise selection.

They’re perhaps to of the biggest questions that have been asked about the Philadelphia Eagles as the 2020 NFL Draft approaches. What if Justin Jefferson isn’t available? Would Philly still address their need at wide receiver with the 21st-overall selection or might they wait until the 53rd selection in Round 2 and address one of their early needs on Day 1?

With mock drafts being all the rage these days, on April 19th, during the NFL Network’s Mock Draft Live, Colleen Wolfe, a die-hard “Birds” fan, was charged with the responsibility of making Philly’s selection, and she didn’t disappoint. She went with Patrick Queen, a former standout linebacker from the LSU Tigers.

This is interesting for several reasons. One, all of the top targets at wide receiver (Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Justin Jefferson) were all off of the board, with the highly-popular Jefferson going to the Denver Broncos.

Second, it’s been well documented that the Eagles often fail at putting a ton of stock in the linebacker position, and third, they haven’t drafted a linebacker in the first round of any selection meeting since 1979.

In 29 games at the collegiate level with the “Bayou Bengals”, Queen tallied 131 total tackles, four sacks, two pass breakups, and an interception. With this being a deep class of wide receivers, this isn’t a bad idea by any means.

We won’t have to wait long to see if the real draft unfolds in a similar fashion.
