Scouting Report. Safety. Alabama. Xavier McKinney. 54. Pick Analysis. 7. player

First off, let the record show that Xavier McKinney is only mentioned this early due to the fact that he is highly unlikely to still be on the board by the time Philadelphia is on the clock in the second round at No. 53.

But since anything is possible when it comes to the NFL, if the Eagles were to somehow see McKinney slip this late in the second round, this would almost seem like too easy of a decision to make.

Over the last couple of months, McKinney has been considered one of the top players at safety from this year’s draft class, and just because he slipped out of the first round doesn’t mean the potential to succeed in the NFL isn’t going to be there.

If anything, the addition of McKinney in the second round should be considered a gift for the Eagles or any other team that manages to land the Alabama safety since he is arguably first-round talent.

The Crimson Tide saw Minkah Fitzpatrick enter the NFL a few years ago as a top safety after a fantastic career at Alabama, and this could end up being a similar case with McKinney if all goes well.
