First, let’s take a commercial break.

One man’s injury can’t be compared to another’s, but it’s hard not to look at what’s gone on with Clement throughout the past two seasons and not think about Darren Sproles. In 61 career games as an Eagle, Sproles tallied 1,356 yards on 311 carries and another 1,494 yards on 180 career receptions. Those numbers include what he did in the playoffs.

Oh, and you can just throw in 117 punt returns for 1,354 yards and four trips to the end zone and four kick returns for 56 yards in for good measure.  Those numbers also include the playoffs. To make long stories less lengthy, Sproles is also one of the greatest all-purpose backs in NFL history.

He also couldn’t stay on the field during his final three seasons in the “City of Brotherly Love”. To their credit, Philly’s done everything they can to find the “next Darren Sproles”. They’ve added Boston Scott, who’s finally showing some real flashes, but before Scott, there was Clement. He was also supposed to fill the void that Sproles would leave behind when his playing days were over.
