Philadelphia Eagles: Devonta Freeman versus LeSean McCoy
Philadelphia Eagles tale of the tape: The resume
A former fourth-round selection, Freeman has been given two Pro Bowl nods and a Second-team All-Pro nod in 2015 after leading the NFL in touchdowns that same season. Prior to that, as a member of Florida State’s proud program, he was part of two ACC Championship teams (2012, 2013) and a BCS National Championship Team in 2013 as he took home First-team All-ACC honors that same season.

McCoy, on the other hand, is a Super Bowl champion (even if he was a healthy scratch for the game), a six-time Pro Bowl nod, and a two-time First-team All-Pro. He was also the NFL’s leader for rushing touchdowns in 2011, the owner of the most rushing yard during the 2013 season, and a member of the 2010s All-Decade Team. No man that has ever worn an Eagles jersey has more rushing yards as he racked up 6,792 yards as a member of the “Birds”.
Enshrinement in Canton may be up for debate, but McCoy is, without question, a shoo-in for the Eagles Hall of Fame. Here’s something you have to be concerned with about both guys though, especially for a team that has had continual issues with keeping their best guys on the field but is interested in looking to sign one of two guys who may not be able to promise that.
Atlanta decided to eat $6 million to avoid having to pay Freeman $6.5 million. McCoy has been given up on by two teams since last August. Neither guy would be in that situation if they had a ton left to offer.
Verdict: Advantage Freeman McCoy has the more impressive resume, but none of that has anything to do with 2020. McCoy also turns 32 in July. That’s approaching the need for social security for a running back while Freeman won’t turn 29 until next March.
