Philadelphia Eagles star DeSean Jackson finds a creative way to pay tribute.

Though he doesn’t always get mentioned for it, Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver DeSean Jackson‘s showmanship and flair extend beyond the gridiron quite often. In the past, he’s made appearances on his own reality show and on HBO’s hit show Ballers. He’s admired by athletes both in his own sports and across other sports as well. He’s even loved in the hip hop community.

Jackson’s imagination isn’t just limited to a touchdown celebration and a few cameos. He’s also been the subject of conversation for his political stances. Last season, following the death of Nipsey Hussle, he honored his fallen comrade by rocking a pair of cleats during each pregame warmup bearing Hussle’s likeness.

Fast forward, and history is repeating itself. Following the death of George Floyd, several Eagles have lent their voices in an attempt to help inspire change. It began with the players, including two very heartfelt statements from Carson Wentz and Zach Ertz. It bled over to Philly’s chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie, who released a statement of his own. Now, just as it was following the death of Hussle, Jackson’s blend of socialism and art is back on display again.

As June’s second week drew to a close, Jackson shared a photo of some George Floyd-themed cleats on his Instagram account. The following message was also attached.

"I’m making my mark, Regardless of the feedback. I’m taking a stance on justice and using my platform to stand for what’s right !!"

Here are a few kudos to a Philadelphia Eagles legend.

It’s hard to be angry with him for that. As athletes from all over the board continue to lend their time and efforts to impact change. Several Eagles, from the coaches to their players have decided to spread positive messages during a sensitive time. Kudos are in order for each one of them.
