Linebacker (5). . player. 54. . .

Nathan Gerry, T.J. Edwards, Davion Taylor, Duke Riley, Shaun Bradley should have Philadelphia Eagles fans invigorated about this linebacker unit.

This is where things get interesting. Aside from Nigel Bradham, the Eagles haven’t been willing to pay linebackers recently (i.e. Jordan Hicks and Kamu Grugier-Hill). They trust Ken Flajole to develop these guys, but it won’t be long before we know whether or not the guys in the fld are the right guys for the job.

Nathan Gerry is heading into his contract year after playing more defensive snaps in 2019 than he did in the two seasons prior. He’s solid in pass coverage, as you would expect a former safety to be, and considering that he played through the same core injury that DeSean Jackson had, it was a respectable season for the 25-year-old.

Trending. There’s no real battle for Philadelphia Eagles at cornerback, is there?. light

Davion Taylor is the most exciting player out of these six guys. He possesses tremendous athleticism that wasn’t allowed to play football for some time due to his family’s religious beliefs. Once he got on the field at Colorado, he was pretty impressive. He might earn a starting job. Even if he doesn’t, we’ll see him flying around from sideline to sideline in no time.

Duke Riley doesn’t offer much more than special teams coverage but no one else who’s competing for his spot has shown they can do much more. Alex Singleton also was primarily used on special teams but he’s a year older than Riley and doesn’t have as much experience.

Temple alumni Shaun Bradley put up numbers you would typically see over a 16-game NFL season during just a 13-game college season. It’ll take time for that to translate, but Temple players always have the right work ethic. He’s worth taking a chance on and has been great in training camp.
