Without a preseason to show their abilities, and expanded practice squad roster sizes, UDFAs had incredibly tough odds to make each team’s final 53-man roster. For the first time in years, the Eagles, which history has shown us is one of the best teams at finding rookie talent that was undrafted, will start the season with zero on the 53-man roster.
The team claimed six of its original 12 UDFAs on the practice squad. Waiver activity around the league was significantly down compared to previous years, according to Adam Schefter, but tight end Noah Togiai was able to fond a home with Frank Reich and the Indianapolis Colts.
This doesn’t mean the team’s current crop of UDFAs on the practice squad won’t be playing on the senior roster at some point this season, but it does feel a bit off to see none of the new players sticking just yet.
