With four running backs on the current roster and potentially at least two rejoining this team as members of the practice squad, there’s no reason to revisit any of those Devonta Freeman theories that so many Eagles fans and members of the media were tossing around this past offseason.

Oh, if you are among the guilty, don’t try and hide now. This was actually a thing not too long ago, that and the whole ‘bring LeSean McCoy back thing’.

Heading into the 2020 season, Freeman does still present some value even though the Atlanta Falcons utilized him so much that his body appears to be chronologically one age while he’s literally another. Gosh, this guy got old quick. Seriously, the last time you saw Devonta Freeman did you think you were looking at a 28-year-old?

While it’s doubtful that the Eagles would carry five running backs on their active roster, it’s also hard to believe that they can get through an entire season healthy if their plan is to run between the tackles with Miles Sanders, Corey Clement, Boston Scott, and now Jason Huntley. None of those guys is a workhorse, but even though fans love big names, it wouldn’t be wise to sign Freman either.
