The Philadelphia Eagles find themselves on the right side of a comeback.

Well, how about that? One week after being on the wrong side of a heartbreaking loss, the Philadelphia Eagles made some magic happen of their own as they made a slight comeback in their home opener. Trailing 21-3 in the first half, Philly put up 13 straight points to narrow the margin to 21-16 at the intermission.

Unfortunately, Philadelphia didn’t come back far enough. The Los Angeles Rams outscored the ‘Birds’ by a 16-3 margin the rest of the way to close this one out with a 37-19 final score as fake boos were pumped in through the loudspeakers for the majority of the afternoon.

There were some positives. Miles Sanders bounced back nicely in his first game after an early fumble. One week after giving up eight sacks, the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive line kept Carson Wentz mostly vertical. The combination of Nate Herbig and Lane Johnson did their thing on the right side of the Eagles offensive line.

Still, all the momentum that the Eagles worked to build in the first half died when Carson Wentz tried to drill a touchdown throw into JJ Arcega-Whiteside during Philly’s first drive of the third quarter. ‘JJAW’ was double-covered in the end zone. Things only went downhill from there.

What’s next for the Philadelphia Eagles?

After another crushing loss, the Eagles stand at 0-2, with one loss coming at the hands of an NFC East opponent and both losses coming at the hands of NFC teams. A comeback by the Dallas Cowboys (the Atlanta Falcons just gave them a game) means that they and the Washington Football Team are the only two teams in the division with a win on the ledger.

Meanwhile, in New York, the news isn’t any better. According to multiple reports, including this one from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Saquon Barkley may have a torn ACL.

So, Week 2 is in the books. Philly turned the ball over three more times. That’s six turnovers on the season. This Eagles defense isn’t stopping anyone in the red zone. To be honest, it’s hard to know where this team goes from here. It’s a long season. Unfortunately, if you’re an Eagles fan, it may feel even longer than normal. Don’t be surprised if the NFC East’s champion has a losing record. As of right now, this still looks like the worst division in the NFL.
