The Philadelphia Eagles meet a long-time rival in Week 7.

The Philadelphia Eagles renew acquaintances with the New York Giants in this week 7, which just about every ‘Birds fan already knows. Then again, at this point, everyone knows that this rivalry dates back to days where many of you who are reading this weren’t born. The ‘G Men’ and the ‘Iggles’ have been at odds since 1933.

This will be the 177th time these two teams have met on the field, with the series lead belonging to the Eagles, 88-86-2. Some of the greatest Eagles moments have happened during these historic bouts. There was the ‘Miracle at the Meadowlands’, the ‘Miracle at the new Meadowlands’, that miracle that we sometimes forget about (Brian Westbrook’s punt return), and that time in 1999 when Michael Strahan batted that pass from Doug Pederson that got run in for an Eagles touchdown anyway.

Fast-forwarding to the present, The Eagles have owned ‘Big Blue’ for the past three seasons, and are currently enjoying a seven-game winning streak. The ‘Birds’, who are favored in this matchup, look to tack another one onto that streak. With this 2020 season off to a rough start for both franchises, both teams are fighting to keep their season alive. Still, even with the injuries that both sides have sustained, the Eagles are still the more talented team. With that being said, let’s get the blood flowing with a few gameday bold predictions.

Let’s take a look at four bold Philadelphia Eagles predictions

1. Carson Wentz will throw for over 300 yards against the Giants.

Carson Wentz hasn’t thrown for 300 yards all season, but this is the week. With DeSean Jackson returning, John Hightower’s speed, and Travis Fulgham’s ability to catch everything, Wentz should be able to pick apart the Giants’ secondary. Having Lane Johnson back will also help the offensive line and give QB1 more time to throw.

2. The Eagles defense will only allow 150 total yards of offense.

The Eagles defense is getting cornerback Avonte Maddox back for this one, and with the return of Will Parks, fans will get a nice look at what this defense can be capable of. Malik Jackson is out, but expect the defensive front to be all over Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Philly’s defense should be able to shut down the Giants offense.

3. Both Travis Fulgham and John Hightower will have over 100 yards receiving.

Having DeSean Jackson back, even if it is in a limited capacity, is going to draw a lot of attention from the Giants’ secondary. ‘Big Blue’ is aware of their issues in the secondary, so they’ll play a lot of zone coverage. That lends to both Hightower and Fulgham’s strengths. They’ll be targeted a lot in this one.

4. Jalen Hurts will score his first touchdown in the NFL.

After what we have seen Jalen Hurts do for this team and with the confusion that he causes when he’s on the field, it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that he’ll get a few touches in the red zone. Hurts had 43 rushing touchdowns in college. Expect him to score his first as a professional in Week 7.

Next. Does DeSean Jackson’s presence matter?. dark

The Eagles’ next three games are critical if they want to stay alive this season. It all begins with the ‘G-Men’ in the first game of the NFL’s seventh week. New York has some talent. The ‘Birds’ have more, but with a new head coach and offensive coordinator, things haven’t gelled yet. Philly should be able to walk out of this game as the winners and hopefully win the first game of a three-game winning streak. Prediction: Eagles: 27  Giants:14
