Philadelphia Eagles fans may have forgotten about Zach Ertz.

Eagles tight end Zach Ertz has been a staple in this organization for a few years now. But after an offseason that involved an altercation with Howie Roseman and endless contract disputes, the name “Zach Ertz” has a lot more question marks around it than answers.

Through six games played, he’s averaging 30 yards per game which is his worst since his rookie year in 2013. To make matters worse, Dallas Goedert is quickly emerging as one of Wentz’s favorite targets. All Ertz can do is sit and watch from the sidelines for 3-5 more weeks as he nurses an ankle injury.

When healthy, Zach Ertz is Carson Wentz’s favorite target. We’ve seen the two develop outstanding chemistry in these past few years as Ertz has surpassed 800 yards every year since Wentz has been under center. In 2018, “86” even had 116 catches for 1163 yards. The talent is still there for Ertz, but he just can’t seem to put it together.

A healthy and performing Ertz will help the Eagles leave their offensive slump. The emergence of Fulgham and the return of Reagor will also allow more single coverage opportunities for Ertz. Don’t get it twisted; Zach Ertz is still a reliable target who has built undeniable chemistry with Wentz. The Eagles need him to turn his season around.
