There were Philadelphia Eagles who got booted before seasons even started.

3. Blake Countess, Cornerback

Here’s another draft pick that most Birds fans won’t remember. The Philadelphia Eagles took Blake Countess in the sixth round in the 2016 NFL Draft. If you don’t remember him, it might be because he was booted from the team before the 2016 season even started.

Countess, who was already a college journeyman, continued that path through the NFL until he finally called it quits in 2019. He was cut from the Eagles not once but twice, and here’s a fun fact.  Even though Countess played safety throughout his college career, Philly tried him at cornerback, similar to what they did with Jalen Mills. Maybe the Birds thought they were a ‘cornerback factory’ in those days

4. Marcus Smith, Defensive end

The Eagles selected linebacker Marcus Smith in the first round of the 2014 selection meeting. The Birds had so much faith in him that he only suited up for eight of his first 16 games, and after three years in Philly, he hadn’t started a single game. Think about that, a first-round selection that didn’t start a single game in his entire three-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was released after the 2016 season and found his way to the Seattle Seahawks. He found a little success in the Pacific Northwest but was ultimately waived by them before the 2018 regular season.
