player. 54. . . . Running back. 4

The Philadelphia Eagles have got to find help for Miles Sanders.

Though no position on the football comes without some degree of difficulty, the running back position might be the easiest in which to make an immediate impact for a young prospect’s NFL team.

While quarterbacks have to know what every player on both offense and defense should be doing, wide receivers must learn the complexities of the route tree, and offensive linemen have, perhaps, the most important job on the offensive side of the ball (keeping that signal-caller upright, the running backs have holes, and making sure the offense has enough time to operate), tailbacks have a little more room to freelance.

Heading into the 2021 offseason, the Birds have some questions to answer about Duce Staley’s guys. Why do they keep Elijah Holyfield around if they have no intention of playing him? If they have Miles Sanders, do they really need Boston Scott? If they believe Boston Scott is the second guy on the depth chart at the position, can he make some noise versus someone other than the New York Giants?

We won’t even get into Corey Clement, who has fallen off of a cliff, and Jason Huntley, who clearly wasn’t ready for the bright lights of the NFL in 2020. This Eagles team might need at least three more tailbacks. Miles Sanders can’t do everything.
