Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Reasons to cut ties with Carson Wentz
The Philadelphia Eagles have a major choice to make at quarterback.
Much of the news surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles these days has to do with the decision they and Carson Wentz will have to make about his future in the City of Brotherly Love. It’s hard to even contemplate as a Philly fan how we all arrived here after the excitement that surrounded 11 has carried over from 2019 to the most recent offseason.
Nevertheless, this team has a huge franchise history-altering choice that they are going to have to make regarding the quarterback position. What do we, as fans, know so far? We know that there have been several reports stating that Wentz wants out of Philly and he’s even gone as far as to help the team facilitate a trade (in some of those reports).
The original report by ESPN reporter Adam Schefter was all but shot down by Rob Maadi from AP news, but a secondary report popped up by ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen confirming that the relationship between Wentz and Doug Pederson is fractured. The fifth-year quarterback had a chance to speak with the media the first Monday after their Week 17 loss but declined to do so.
Is his unwillingness to speak to the media a silent answer to the previous reports? Did Wentz want to avoid the circus that would almost certainly come from that press conference? Either way, as a leader of this team, it wasn’t a good look. So, again? Should Philly move on? There’s a large part of the fan base that would agree that they should. Here are three theories to support the argument.
