Might the Philadelphia Eagles hire another college football coach?

Hang around on ESPN, FS1, or the NFL Network long enough, and you’ll hear that the Eagles are never satisfied. Doug Pederson won a Super Bowl. Andy Reid is a hall-of-fame head coach. Chip Kelly had a winning record. You can tell that these guys are national and miss some of the more intricate details that come with being local guys or members of the media that cover a specific team on a day-to-day basis.

Kelly was abhorrent. His win-loss total doesn’t change that, but his tenure does raise a question, one that is worth asking. Is there something missing with the guys that leave the NCAA level for the greener pastures of the NFL?

Did Kelly’s lack of NFL experience help lead to his undoing with two franchises? Might the same thing happen to Lincoln Riley if he left his kingdom in Norman, Oklahoma to take over one of the toughest jobs in the City of Brotherly Love? Can the Eagles even afford him? Doesn’t he make like $7 million per season? Would he even consider leaving the Oklahoma Sooners and taking a pay cut?

This makes sense for a lot of reasons. Riley coached Jalen Hurts. He’s a brilliant young offensive mind. He’s on a lot of team’s radars, but at this point, it’s hard to argue substantial reasons for why Philly should take a flier on him, but he’s gotten so much mention that he had to be included on this list. Let’s move on.
