Welcome to the Philadelphia Eagles’ version of balling on a budget.

If you’re like most Americans, there are times when life has to feel like that Dallas TV show (if you’re old enough to remember when that was on). It’s fun when you’re winning, but if you’re smart, like we’re sure most of you are, you have to prepare for the rainy days too. If you need an NFL comparison, look no further than the Philadelphia Eagles.

In a little over three years, the Birds have gone from the penthouse (aka a Super Bowl victory and football glory) to the NFL’s outhouse. When the 2020-2021 season ended, the Birds, once believed to be the team that would compete with the Dallas Cowboys all season for first place in the NFC East, finished with a 4-11-1 record in what wound up being the NFL’s worst division.

As if that isn’t bad enough, they’re dealing with the NFL’s version of financial hardship (salary cap issues), overdraft fees (yes, they’re still going to be paying Alshon Jeffery, Malik Jackson, and Carson Wentz), and bad credit (Howie Roseman’s like am 18-year-old with his first credit card).

Heading into 2021’s season, piecing together a roster won’t be easy, but it definitely isn’t impossible. Here’s where quite a few Eagles fans begin throwing out theories about the salary cap concerns. Fear not though. In an earlier release, you were given a few jewels about how Philly can fix things and maybe even create a little space to make a few additions. They’ll need to be inexpensive though.

With that being said, as most of you know, this Eagles team could lose Zach Ertz in the offseason. If they do, there will be a few options in the upcoming NFL Draft. Here are a few tight ends that might be inexpensive adds to consider as well, in no particular order.
