Trey Sermon could be the workhorse back the Philadelphia Eagles have lacked.

Assuming the first three running back prospects off of the board are Najee Harris, Travis Etienne, and Javonte Williams, a highly-likely scenario, Philly should still have some options if they want to invest draft capital into the position.

Now, the argument can be made for and against three running backs being taken in Round 1 (the premium we used to place on the position isn’t there anymore), but no one should be shocked if one or two of those guys fall out of Round 1.

Trey Sermon split carries with Master Teague during his final season in Columbus but had a game to remember versus the Northwestern Wildcats in the Big Ten Championship Game. He showed power. He ran with vision, and versus the Clemson Tigers in the College Football Playoff Semifinal, he showed he had a nasty stiff-arm. It isn’t quite Derrick Henry-level yet, but it’s nice.

Mr. Sermon is six-foot tall. He weighs in at about 221 pounds, and if given the opportunity, he could be the Philadelphia Eagles ‘thunder’ to all of that ‘lightning’ that Miles Sanders brings. Expect to hear his name called during Round 3 or sometime shortly after that.
