player. 13. . . . Tyrod Taylor.

Update: The Philadelphia Eagles miss out on Taylor. He joins the Texans.

Welp! Philly missed out on Tyrod, but here was some really great analysis:

It seems a little strange to say this, but it’s accurate. There isn’t much that an NFL defense can throw at Tyrod Taylor that he hasn’t seen. Now, that may not have translated into a Hall-of-Fame career, but Taylor definitely knows what he’s doing.

He’s also spent a lot of time being tutored by some of the game’s great quarterback whisperers (Gary Kubiak, Cam Cameron, Jim Caldwell, and Pep Hamilton). If you don’t think Tyrod Taylor picked up something that Jalen Hurts can learn from, you just don’t know football.

Taylor has racked up over 10,000 total yards with both his arm and his legs. He has a career completion percentage of 61 percent, which isn’t great, but he also has an 89.5 career quarterback rating.

That’s hampered some by the 14 games a young Taylor played in Baltimore with the Ravens (47.2). Since then, aside from four bad games in Cleveland with the Browns, where he was only managed to craft a rating of 64.5, he’s tallied ratings of 92.5 with a bad Buffalo Bills team and 85.5 with the L.A. Chargers.

Most importantly, if something happens to Jalen Hurts, one has to feel like Tyrod Taylor can win this team some games. There may not be a better barometer for a backup QB than that. He signed a two-year, $11 million deal with the Chargers in 2019. The Birds may be able to get him for a little less than that, at least fans would hope so.

Update: About two hours after this story’s publishing, Tyrod Taylor signed a one-year deal worth up to $12.5 million with the Houston Texans. Cross his name off of the list.
