What are some other backup options that the Philadelphia Eagles have?

Nick Foles’ cap hit rises to 10.6 million in 2022 which is the final year of his current contract but his dead cap will be 3.6 million. The Birds would have the option to part ways with him after one season if they wanted to.

The backup quarterback market isn’t great right now. Jacoby Brissett would’ve been an ideal mentor with his experience under new head coach Nick Sirianni but signed with Miami.

Tyrod Taylor also would’ve been a great mentor with a similar playstyle to Hurts. He mentored Baker Mayfield and Justin Herbert during both of their rookie years but he is headed to Houston.

After that, a few top options remain in free agency including names like Robert Griffin III, Joe Flacco, and Chase Daniel. It really depends upon how the rest of the backup quarterback market shapes up and how much Foles would cost via trade. Compared to who is out there, Foles is easily the best available but again it comes down to what the Eagles are willing to give up.
