. . . DeVonta Smith, The Tide. 3. player. 829

Smith will surprise some Philadelphia Eagles fans. You just wait and see!

Regardless of who you talk to and regardless of how many times he’s mentioned, people can’t stop discussing the fact that DeVonta Smith is 175 pounds. Who cares at this point?

T.Y. Hilton tips the scales at somewhere around 183. There are a ton of Eagles fans that wanted Philly to pursue him. Marvin Harrison is 185 pounds and was slightly smaller than that during his playing days. He only lined up on one side of the field for 95 percent of his career, and he’s in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. No one talks about how small Marvin Harrison was.

The fact of the matter is this. Smith’s weight is one of those things that we discuss often but has no bearing on whether or not he can play. He also looks slimmer because he’s taller. He’s six-foot-one, and this guy has a bright future in the NFL.

He wasn’t any shorter or heavier when he caught that game-winning touchdown pass versus the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. He was 175 pounds when he caught the other 234 receptions he hauled in as a member of the Tide. He was 175 pounds when he won the Heisman Trophy a season ago.

This man’s size isn’t of any real consequence. DeVonta Smith is a baller. Place a period at the end of that sentence. Let’s not overanalyze things.
