Philadelphia Eagles showing interest in that other LSU receiver?

Well, we can say this with some certainty. Someone employed by the Philadelphia Eagles has been watching a lot of LSU Tigers football at the NovCare Complex. They obviously just weren’t paying close enough attention to Justin Jefferson when they were doing so. How else can you forego the opportunity to select him and go with Jalen Reagor instead?

Yes, that’s an old narrative that needs to be retired. Sometimes, it’s hard to do so.

Sure, it’s all water under the bridge at this point, and nothing can be done about it now, at least not until Jefferson’s rookie deal reaches its end and he’s an unrestricted free agent. Then again, it’s not like the Minnesota Vikings are going to allow him to get away when he is, so how about we quit while we’re ahead?

All the Philadelphia Eagles can do now is move forward.

All of that was a long-winded way of saying this. It’s time to put Jefferson in the rear-view mirror for good. Another NFL Draft approaches, and looky here! There’s another chance to get it right.

As we’ve said, it appears that there are televisions at Eagles headquarters that seem to be on the LSU games quite often because we’ve heard Ja’Marr Chase‘s name a lot even after the Jefferson miss. What’s that? We should all give up on Ja’Marr Chase following the trade? Well, you just hold on there a second.

Even though the Birds traded down from six to 12 in Round 1, there’s still a shred of hope that the Eagles have a shot at him. Yes, it’s unlikely that he’ll fall that far, but it isn’t impossible (at least, let’s hope it isn’t). We’ll have to wait and see how things fall on draft night.

Here’s a curveball if you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Ladies and gents, throw this one in the category of things we should spend more time discussing if you haven’t started hampering on this already. What if we told you that, after missing on Jefferson, Philly did a lot of thinking about his partner in crime during that LSU College Football Playoff National Championship run (Chase) but wound up landing that other Bayou Bengal receiver instead, one Terrace Marshall?

It’s a lot to take in. It’s a very likely scenario though. Philly apparently spoke with Marshall after LSU held their Pro Day, and as we approach 2021’s version of the annual selection meeting, here’s something that you’re sure to hear more often.

People aren’t just going to be talking about Ja’Marr Chase. Marshall will be a hot topic as well. As a matter of fact, he already is.

Here are some numbers for Philadelphia Eagles fans that love stats.

Marshall’s burn is well deserved, and after shining by showcasing a 39-inch vertical and a 4.38 showing in the 40-yard dash, some are even questioning whether or not he might slip into the first round. If he doesn’t, he represents a very interesting scenario when the Eagles are back on the clock in Round 2 at pick 37. You know. That is if they don’t trade up and get back into Round 1 at the end of the draft’s first night.

With Chase sitting out of the 2020 NCAA football season due to COVID-19 concerns, Marshall made the most of being thrust into the spotlight. He ended the 2020 football seasons with 48 receptions for 731 yards and ten scores in seven games, giving him 106 receptions, 1,594 receiving yards, and 23 trips to paydirt in 28 games at the collegiate level.

The Birds seem to have shown interest. We’ll have to wait and see if it leads to anything, but for now, circle Marshall’s name as being someone Philly might be very interested in. After missing on Jefferson and debating about Chase, it might be Marshall that winds up in the Eagles jersey.
